In a time when some of us might feel like we are ‘stuck’ at home, spare a thought for people who do not have a place to rest, need to change locations or occupy insecure accomodation. These situations are undoubtedly more difficult in the pandemic.
In response, Art Aid and the Reality Check campaign in association with the Northern Rivers Community Foundation (NRCF) have launched an art auction to raise money for vulnerable people in their community in response to the growing housing crisis.
“It’s often said that we live in paradise, but it’s not paradise for everyone” says John Callanan, Chair of NRCF. The charity in the Northern Rivers Region of NSW fundraises and also invests to then share profit and dividends through a community grants program moderated by an independent board and grant committee.
Artists have donated works for auction with upwards of $10,000 already pledged. All proceeds go to the Housing and Homelessness stream of the NRCF 2021 Community Grants Round.
Participating artists include Craig Ruddy, Ann Thomson, Konstantina and John Dahlsen, among many more.
