The Sydney Opera House has designed a new digitised program From Our House to Yours as a way to reach out to audiences at home and continue hosting a wide-range of live performances on the theatre stage while the regular program is temporarily interrupted during Covid-19 closures.

Direct from the Joan Sutherland Theatre stage From Our House to Yours is streaming a series of talks, music, dance and kids performances online to viewers around the country and across the globe from Thursday to Sunday, in the evenings. This week the program invites us into a world of contemporary music as tribute to the Opera House’s annual centrepiece music event Vivid LIVE, which would have taken place this week as part of Vivid Sydney, and which is now scheduled to light up the city in 2021.

Taking audiences on a musical journey and into the weekend on Thursday 21 May at 8pm is a spectacular electro-orchestral tribute to ‘the godfather of EDM’, Giorgio Moroder, with special guests Anna Calvi and others in the presentation of The Music of Giorgio Moroder – An Orchestral Celebration.

On Friday 22 May at 8pm Sydney Opera House’s Head of Contemporary Music, Ben Marshall brings Best of… Music to your evening with a selection of his favourite shows from H.E.R’s iconic Vivid live 2018 performance to Skepta’s energetic grime spectacle.

Two exclusive live performances by Sydney-based bands will enthrall audiences over the weekend. Low Life takes the stage on Saturday 23rd May at 8pm, and is described by the host venue as “a cathartic masterclass in pummelling post-punk rhythms,” these guys will drop you into the thrashy slam pits of the early ’80s. Winston Surfshirt crowned “Sydney’s very own hip-hop funk machine,” will bring super chilled vibes to the house on Sunday 24th May at 8pm, the perfect sounds to wind your weekend down. Thursday through Sunday is looking good!

In between show announcements, audiences can tune in to the Digital Season on Demand to hear from inspiring thinkers, enchanting storytellers and musicians, and explore the range of full length performances already released across Contemporary Music, Classical Music, Dance & Opera, Kids & Families, Talks & Ideas and Cabaret.

Don’t forget to visit the Sydney Opera House website every Tuesday to stay up to date with the new weekly program.
