On Saturday 8 October the Walsh Bay Arts Precinct’s performing arts companies host an Open Day free to the public on Pier 2/3 and Wharf 4/5 from 10am to 4pm. The one-off experiences, workshops and performances come to us courtesy of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Australian Theatre for Young People, Bangarra Dance Theatre, Bell Shakespeare, Gondwana Choirs, Sydney Dance Company, Sydney Theatre Company and Sydney Philharmonia Choirs.

All day – Australian Theatre for Young People offer ‘Treasure Hunt’ an exploratory game. To receive your clues visit the the Ground floor shared ATYP/Bell Shakespeare reception.
9:30am – Sydney Dance Company present ‘Taster Class: Jazz’ a 45mins beginner class.
10:30am – Artistic Directors Round Table promises a lively conversation between the companies on the future of Australia’s arts and culture landscape. Wharf 1 Theatre, Sydney Theatre Company, Wharf 4/5, Walsh Bay Arts Precinct, runs for 45mins. Moderated by the Deputy Lord Mayor of the City of Sydney Jess Scully, speakers will include Richard Tognetti, Artistic Director of the Australian Chamber Orchestra; Fraser Corfield, Artistic Director of Australian Theatre for Young People; Stephen Page, Artistic Director of Bangarra Dance Theatre; Peter Evans, Artistic Director of Bell Shakespeare; Rafael Bonachela, Artistic Director of the Sydney Dance Company; and Kip Williams, Artistic Director of the Sydney Theatre Company.
10am to 4pm – Bangarra Dance Theatre share their first dedicated work for children ‘Waru’. Kids can create turtle sculptures and learn about the culture of the Torres Strait Islands.
10am to 12pm – Sydney Dance company extends 10-minute complimentary postural assessments!
10:30am to 12:30pm – Bell Shakespeare invites you behind the scenes of ‘The Lovers’ to watch 20 minutes of rehearsal with director Shaun Rennie.
12:30pm – Guided 1 hour tour of the Walsh Bay Arts Precinct. Meet in the Ground Floor Foyer, Pier 2/3, Walsh Bay Arts Precinct.
2:30pm – Learn to ‘Speak Shakespeare’ at The Seed. Meet in Level 1 Foyer, Pier 2/3, Walsh Bay Arts Precinct.
